Our commitment to building green starts in our office, where we have changed the way we communicate with subcontractors. When at all possible, we use E-mail in lieu of sending a fax or hard copies of documents. We have also taken measures within the office to recycle everyday used items and we are updating our fleet of company trucks to newer, fuel efficient models. Within the field, we have taken measures to have construction debris separated into recyclable containers to be disposed of properly. When it comes to the actual construction, whether it being commercial or residential, Simonson Construction Services has a LEED Accredited Professional (AP) on hand to fulfill your LEED requests.
To give you a little more information about LEED, or Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design, it was developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) in March 2000. LEED provides building owners and operators with a framework for identifying and implementing practical and measurable green building design, construction, operations and maintenance solutions.
LEED is flexible enough to apply to all building types – commercial as well as residential. It works throughout the building lifecycle – design and construction, operations and maintenance, tenant fitout, and significant retrofit. And LEED for Neighborhood Development extends the benefits of LEED beyond the building footprint into the neighborhood it serves.
